Also known as Blood Sage, this plant is very attractive and a magnet for insects and butterflies. The bright red flowers are around 2.5cm long and whorl around the upright stem. Flowers will be produced from early summer to the first frost and it doesn’t need a lot of looking after, indeed it will thrive in well drained soil and is drought tolerant. • Sow undercover with warmth 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost
• Surface sow and cover with vermiculite. Do not exclude light
• Optimum soil temperature: 21-24°C
• Days to germination: 7-21 days
• Transplant to 7cm pots when large enough to handle
• Plant spacing: 30cm
