A fun mix or four varieties.

Detroit or Burpees Golden - both are globe varieties that retain its colour when cooked

Albino White – an heirloom variety from Holland. Sweeter than the red variety and non-staining

Detroit Dark Red – a round, tender root, 7-10cm across of sweet flesh

Chioggia – an Italian Heirloom variety of light red round roots. The surprise comes when sliced, revealing their ornamental dark pink and white striped flesh complete with a deliciously mild flavour

The leaves are edible too and can be used as per spinach, the young leaves are a great addition to a salad and very rich in nutrients. Download sowing guide

• Sow seeds in growing site once all risk of frost has passed
• Sow successively through to early summer to prolong your harvest
• Sow 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart
• Thin seedlings to 8cm apart
• Pre-soaking seed in warm water for 30mins to 1 hour can help speed up germination
