American Land Cress
American Land Cress
Approximate Seed Quantity: 75
American Land Cress is a strongly flavoured alternative to watercress, with all the same excellent qualities, but without the need for as much water, although watercress does not need to be grown in running water as is often believed.
Land cress is often cultivated as a salad plant, when it is usually treated as an annual. It can supply leaves all year round from successional sowings. In hot weather plants soon run to seed unless they are kept shaded and moist. It can be used in sandwiches, and salads, cooked like spinach and used in soups. Deep green land cress is a very healthy plant to eat. It has twice the vitamin A as broccoli, and three times the vitamin C found in oranges. It also contains vitamins B and E, iron and calcium.
